Max B. Creager will celebrate his 80th birthday. Family and friends may attend an open house in his honor from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Rock Church, 10 W. Young St., Morgan.
Born to Sidney and Cleora Creager Sept. 5, 1932, in Morgan, he was raised in Morgan and graduated from Morgan High School.He served in the Army and is a veteran of the Korean conflict. He is an active member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He married Thelma Poppleton Aug. 3, 1955, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple. They made their home in Morgan, where they raised six children: Jack Creager, Kim Creager, Mike Creager, Kelly Thurston, Jill Hipwell and Myron Creager. His wife died Dec. 26, 1999. The family says she is missed by all. He then married Gailene Bateman July 2000. They reside in Roy.
He graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in education. He obtained a master’s degree in math from Utah State University.
A career educator, he taught math at South Ogden Junior High School for four years and at Morgan High School until he retired in 1995. He also coached baseball and assisted in coaching football and basketball during his time at Morgan High. He continued to assist coaching girls basketball after he retired.
Active in the LDS Church, he has fulfilled many callings. He and Gailene served a Church Educational System Mission to Huntsville, Texas, serving as institute teachers at Sam Houston State University. They have also served as temple workers.
