PLEASANT VIEW -- Concrete work by Johnson Homes and Construction was brought before council members for approval.

Although the original bid came in around $7,000, City Administrator Melinda Brimhall said the amount jumped to a little more than $10,000, so she brought it back for council approval.

“When they came to lay out forms for the concrete we discovered the estimate included only 15 feet of concrete instead of 20 feet and that was not adequate,” said Brimhall.

She said she made a judgement call and asked them to go the additional 5 feet. She said when they started pouring it was also found a gap would be left by the small bay door in the new Public Works building and said it didn’t make sense to leave a 2-foot gap.
