Reclusive S. Utah cabin burglar spoted near Fish Lake

RICHFIELD — Authorities in Sevier County are asking the public to be on the lookout for a recluse cabin burglar seen in the vicinity of Fish Lake.

Sevier County Sheriff Nathan Curtis says 44-year-old Troy Knapp has been seen in the Seven Mile area.

Knapp was identified by Iron County authorities in February with the help of motion-activated hunter cameras that captured images of him moving through the remote Utah wilderness near Zion National Park.

Curtis says Knapp seems to be locating other cameras in Sevier County and deleting photos taken of him.

He adds that recent cabin burglaries in Beaver, Piute and Sevier counties are similar to those already tied to Knapp in other counties.

He’s charged in Kane county with two cabin burglaries and a weapons violation.
