Wildcats head out on road for volleyball matches

HAMMOND, La. – The Weber State University women’s volleyball team returns heads to Louisiana on Friday for its final pre-conference tournament.

The Wildcats (2-5) will face four matches in two days at the Southeastern Lion Classic, hosted by Southeastern Louisiana.

Weber State will face Southern University at 11 a.m. on Friday, and then will take on the host Lions at 5 p.m.

On Saturday, Weber State will face Louisiana Tech at 10 a.m., before wrapping up tournament play against the University of Texas-Pan American at Noon.

The Wildcats are coming off a 3-0 loss on Tuesday night on the road against in-state rival Utah Valley.

Sophomore Audrey Biggs leads Weber State with 58 total kills this year (2.52/set), while redshirt freshman Rebecca Fuchs is second with 53 kills (2.30/set).

Junior Briana Wilms leads the team in blocking with 22 total blocks, while redshirt freshman Audrey Gee has 20.

Following this weekend’s tournament Weber State will kickoff Big Sky Conference action on Friday, Sept. 14, against in-state rival Southern Utah. The match against the Thunderbirds will also be Weber State’s 2012 home opener.
