Blown tire catches fire on I-15 Monday

FARMINGTON — Members of the fire department were called to I-15 Monday night when a blown tire on a semi truck with three trailers burst into flames.

The 9 p.m. Monday incident occurred on the northbound highway near Shepard Lane.

Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Todd Johnson said emergency crews put out the tire fire and then were able to move the semi and its trailers off to a rest area.

He said traffic likely was impeded at first until emergency workers got control of the flames.
