Richard and Colleen Jenson of South Ogden will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. Family and friends may attend an open house in their honor from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 15 in the Pleasant Valley LDS 5th Ward cultural hall, 5735 Crestwood Drive (1475 East on Highway 89), South Ogden. The couple will also be honored for their 82nd and 80th birthdays. Entertainment will be provided by friends, family and the Men of Song.
They were born and raised in Smithfield and married Oct. 25, 1951, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple. He is an emeritus professor of English at Weber State University, a retired colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, a Korean War veteran and a former member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. He has directed the Men of Song since 1991. He has served his church in various capacities, including bishop, high councilor, stake Sunday School president, and stake and ward music director.
She has served on ward and stake Young Women Mutual Improvement Association and Relief Society boards, and has been a counselor and president in the ward Relief Society, and ward and stake organist. She sang with the Celeste Singers and is a member of the Weber South Co. Daughters of Utah Pioneers board, Camp Sage DUP, and the Child Culture Club.
Their four children and spouses are Dr. Richard L. and Carol Jenson, Logan; Carolyn and Greg Gibbons, Layton; Susan Jones, Pensacola, Fla.; and Deanne and LaMont Sheridan, Roy. They have 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
