PLAIN CITY — She does not care where she plays, just as long as she plays.
But Tanisha Langston has to earn court time each day in the Darts’ grueling practice.
“It gets competitive at practice to see who gets to play, and it pushes everybody to get better,” said Langston, a 6-foot senior outside hitter/right-side hitter.
Two-time defending league champion Davis High dusted Fremont 27-25, 25-17, 25-17 in 1 hour and 12 minutes Tuesday in its Region 1 opener in the Wolf Den.
Langston, a Weber State commit, had seven kills, two solo blocks, three digs and one ace. BYU commit Camille Walker had 11 kills, three solo blocks and five digs; Utah State commit Kaylie Kamalu had four kills, one solo block, two digs and two aces; and setter Jamie Selleneit had 11 assists, two digs and two aces for the defending state 5-A champion Darts (20-1 overall), who had their 32-match winning streak snapped Saturday by Pleasant Grove at the Rocky Mountain Champions Classic.
The Silver Wolves’ Jessica Quayle and Brooke Lamb each had seven kills and one ace. Setter McKenzie Burrows had 20 assists, two block assists and two aces for Fremont (9-9), which has three middle blockers rehabilitating from foot injuries.

• LAYTON DEF. SYRACUSE 18-25, 25-18, 25-27, 25-11, 16-14: At Layton High, Eliza Katoa had 26 kills, five blocks and two aces; Rylee Cate had 12 kills; and setter Mckell Moss had 40 assists for the Lancers.
The Titans’ Maggie Hansen had 21 kills and four aces; Kara Mudrow had 15 kills; and Lizzy Reich had 11 kills and 10 blocks for Syracuse (13-7).

• Morgan def. Bear River 25-16, 25-14, 25-9: At Garland, the Trojans’ Cassidee Lish had 11 kills and three aces; setter Amanda Porter had 15 assists and three digs; and Casey Thomson had 14 digs for two-time defending 3-A champion Morgan (4-0, 4-0 league).
The Bears’ Alyssa Park had five kills, one solo block and two aces and setter Monica Olsen had 11 assists and four digs for Bear River (4-11, 1-3).
