Police: Hot truck starts brush fire

OGDEN — Police are investigating the theft of a pickup truck that was set ablaze, sparking a small brush fire Tuesday night on North Ogden Canyon Road outside of Huntsville.

Firefighters found the 2005 Ford F-350 truck abandoned and in flames around 10 p.m.

Based on a preliminary investigation, it appears an accelerant was used to intentionally set the truck on fire, said Jeremiah Jones, fire marshal for North View Fire Department.

The fire burned some brush encompassing less than an acre, he said.

The truck was stolen from the owner of a business in the 2700 block of Industrial Drive, said Ogden Police Lt. Tony Fox.

No one had been arrested Wednesday night in connection with the vehicle theft.
