SALT LAKE CITY — Utah is making it easier for people to renew their concealed weapons permits.
KSL reportsthe state has rolled out a new website that allows permit holders to renew them online in less than 10 minutes.
Violence prevention advocates, however, worry it makes the process too easy.
Utah Public Safety Commissioner Lance Davenport says the process is now more convenient and streamlined. He says it also keeps people from having to wait several weeks for a renewal.
Gary Sackett with the Gun Violence Prevention Center of Utah complains the website cannot perform a reliable background check, and notes that public safety should trump "minor budgetary considerations."
