FRUIT HEIGHTS — A Fruit Heights man is facing 20 felony counts following a year-long investigation into child pornography, a sheriff’s deputy said.
Ron Lee Monroe, 52, was booked on Thursday in the Davis County Jail on 20 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
He is being held without bail.
The Davis County Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case before filing formal charges in 2nd District Court.
Davis County Sheriff Deputy Scott Harper said the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force began investigating Monroe about a year ago.
Investigators were able to determine that Monroe had bought and downloaded numerous images of child pornography, Harper said. The images were saved on a laptop Monroe owned.
“The victims were not local, but were on the FBI database,” Harper said.
Those are images of child pornography that have been on the Internet for some time.
Harper said Monroe has been cooperative with investigators.
No one else is expected to be charged in this case, Harper said.
Harper said he does not know if the images were photographs, videos or both.
