West. Point girl, 9, collecting coats

WEST POINT — A 9-year-old girl is hoping to make a difference in her community by getting area residents to donate to her coat drive.

Armani McFarland is collecting new and gently used coats or cash donations to purchase new coats as part of a making-a-difference project that will run through Oct. 19.

She’s hoping to collect coats of all sizes.

In partnership with Mountain America Credit Unions, residents may donate to Armani’s cause by bringing their coat donations to one of three credit union locations during business hours, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Those credit unions are at 955 W. Antelope Drive in Layton; 455 40th St. in South Ogden; and 321 E. 2nd St. in Ogden.

Cash donations may be made at Armani’s blog, onecanmakeachange.blogspot.com, by clicking the donate button.

All donated coats will be given to Christmas Box House, Ogden Rescue Mission, St. Anne’s Shelter or Catholic Community Services.

The agencies will distribute the coats to those in need.
