Communitywide shredding event offered in Bountiful for free

BOUNTIFUL — Back by popular demand, area agencies are once again offering a free communitywide shredding of confidential documents and papers.

The shredding event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, at Golden Years Senior Activity Center, 726 S. 100 East, Bountiful.

Utah State Health Assistance Program, Senior Medicare Patrol and Davis County Health Department’s Senior Services are hosting the activity.

“Following the success of our last bulk-shredding communitywide event during late June in Clearfield, we’re offering another one,” Davis County Health Department public information officer Bob Ballew said.

The public can take advantage of this no-cost opportunity to protect their privacy by bulk shredding any unneeded personal documents, Ballew said.

Some examples of information to be shredded are receipts for paid regular utility billings; receipts and warranty cards for items with expired warranties or items that are no longer owned; expired licenses and membership cards not needed for renewals; paycheck slips and account statements.

Other items to be shredded include cancelled checks older than six months, old tax returns and supporting data, deposit slips, records of investments no longer owned and credit card applications.
