HUNTSVILLE -- Weber County Sheriff's deputies caught three suspected burglars leaving the scene of a cabin burglary Wednesday night in Causey Estates about 10 miles east of Huntsville.
The sheriff's office received a report around 4 p.m. of three suspicious men walking down a dirt road in Causey Estates, which is a gated community that contains numerous cabins, Sgt. Ryon Hadley said.
Motorists reported that as they approached the men, the men would hide in some bushes off the road until they passed.
Two deputies from the Ogden Valley Precinct of the sheriff's office arrived at the scene and saw the men throw property into a ravine and hide in bushes, Hadley said. The deputies took the men into custody and recovered tools, wiring and electrical equipment stolen from a cabin a quarter-mile south of where they were caught. Deputies then went to the cabin, where they found forced entry to the dwelling and considerable damage.
The men were still being interviewed by detectives Wednesday night and will be charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief, criminal trespassing and possession of suspected illegal drugs and paraphernalia.
The suspects are not being identified pending being booked into Weber County Jail. They are from the Weber County area and are ages 34, 21 and 27.
