Ogden police arrest man on warrant for rape

OGDEN — A suspect in a rape case tried to escape arrest by riding off on his bicycle.

Ogden police officers spotted Loatian refugee Thongkhoune Khoune Phomsouvanh, 50, at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday. Phomsouvanh had a warrant out for his arrest for the rape of a 58-year-old woman.

The victim had previously identified Phomsouvanh, and DNA evidence connected the suspect to the case.

Police arrested Phomsouvanh for rape, avoiding apprehension and failure to appear. He is currently in Weber County Jail and has an immigration hold.
