Bountiful purchases new transformers

BOUNTIFUL -- The city council has approved a plan to buy 10 new transformers for Bountiful City Light and Power.

The council unanimously approved recently a bid to buy six different kinds of transformers, 10 in all, from Northern Power for $100,720. The transformer mix will include two 100 kva single phase transformers as well as two 750 kva three phase transformers.

The transformers will be put into the utility’s distribution inventory, according to Allen Johnson, director of the utility.

BCL&P is one of 40 municipally-owned utilities in the state of Utah and any purchase more than $10,000 requires approval from the city council.
