Ore. murder suspect also wanted in Ogden

OGDEN — The suspect in the death of a Lake Oswego, Ore., man is also wanted by Ogden police in an unrelated case.

Erik John Meiser, 37, is being sought in the Monday morning homicide of 57-year-old Fritz Hayes, who was killed by an intruder when he and his wife returned to their home after walking their dog.

A warrant issued for Meiser’s arrest in Oregon accuses him of aggravated murder, which carries a potential death penalty. The FBI joined in the search Friday.

Ogden police said in a news release that Meiser is also suspected in a Sept. 8 stabbing at the Ogden Transportation Hub. In that case, the victim’s face was slashed with a razor-style knife.

Oregon police said Meiser has a number of tattoos, most of them depicting white supremacy images.

He is 6 feet 5 inches tall, weighs 170 to 190 pounds and has blue eyes. He should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.
