Woman dies driving away from party

WEST HAVEN — A 70-year-woman apparently suffered a medical issue and was pronounced dead at the scene after her car struck a tree and then a house in West Haven late Saturday afternoon.

The accident was reported at 5:26 p.m. at 3450 W. 4263 South.

The woman, who wasn’t identified, was driving a 1998 Dodge Caravan and had just left a family party, said Weber County Sheriff’s Lt. Mark Lowther.

She was alone when her driving became erratic, causing her vehicle to hit a tree and then the house. The crash was apparently witnessed by several of the woman’s family members who were at the party, said Lowther.

Paramedics attempted to resuscitate her but were unsuccessful. A state medical examiner will determine if an autopsy will be performed.
