OGDEN -- Weber County extended a contract with the Natural Resource Conservation Service to help with repairs on the Weber River.
The Board of Commissioners of Weber County approved the agreement to extend the grant through June 2013 through the United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service’s Watershed Protection program.
Weber County Emergency Management and Homeland Security Director Lance Peterson said the grantmoney will help re-engineer structures on the river as well as make repairs to riverbanks and other areas damaged by the 2012 floods.
“We knew that year that when the deadline was October, we’d have to extend it; it was just a formality,” Peterson said. “I think we will have to re-extend it again in June, because we won’t have construction projects done by then.”
