Darrel Martinson

Darrel C. Martinson of Layton will be honored for his 80th birthday on Oct. 6. Friends and family may attend an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, at his home, 910 Amethyst, Layton. No gifts.

He was born Oct. 6, 1932, in Ogden. He attended Ogden High School, then enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1949 and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1952.

He married Leah Daley on Feb. 1, 1954. Their vows were solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple on Oct. 11, 1960.

They have two sons and two daughters. Their children and spouses are David and Dana Martinson, Dwain and Tammy Martinson, Debbie and John Rainford, and LeAnn and Jerry Moss. They have 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

He has been a stake missionary twice and an Ogden Temple worker for 15 years. He has served in many positions in the LDS Church.

He worked as an auto mechanic until he retired in 1994.
