Frank and Dody Reid of Roy celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. An open house in their honor was held at their residence.
They were married on Sept. 28, 1962, in Los Angeles. He was born George Franklin Reid in Los Angeles, to parents who had moved from Southern Utah. They lived in Bell Gardens, Calif., where he graduated from Bell Gardens High School in 1955.He attended East Los Angeles Junior College and served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Brazil. Two years later, he met Dorcus “Dody” at an LDS stake dance when she returned from her mission to Peru and Chile.
She was born Dorcus Jean Call in Ontario, Ore. The family lived in Payette, Idaho; and Ontario had the nearest hospital. He mother, Imogene Wood, was from Rockland, Idaho; and her father, Varial Call, was from Riverside, Idaho. Her family moved to Los Angeles, and she attended Mark Keppel High School during her senior year. She attended Brigham Young University for two years before returning home, and served her LDS mission. They were married seven months later in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. They moved to Brigham City in 1980 when he was employed at Thiokol. They later moved to Roy, where they have been for 25 years.
Their seven children and spouses are Rebecca and Wendell Waters, Elizabeth Reid (deceased), Jeanine and James Sarantis, Peter Reid, Janis Reid, Georgina Reid, and Lisa and Brian Taylor. They have eight grandchildren.
