Jean Perkes Bowden of Perry celebrated her 80th birthday at an open house in Perry on Sept. 29.
She was born Sept. 17, 1932, to parents Asa and Ethel Perkes in Mooreland, Idaho. She has 15 siblings. She graduated from MacKay High School in MacKay, Idaho.
She married Spence Bowden on Oct. 10, 1950, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Idaho Falls Temple. They lived most of their married life in Ogden and moved to Perry in 1998. He died in September 2000.
She worked at Polk Elementary School as a cook.
She served in many church callings, and one of her favorites is a visiting teacher.
Her children and spouses are Carol Ann Taylor, and Bill and Michele Bowden. Her grandchildren are Ashlee and Charlie Chappell, Braun Bowden (serving an LDS mission in Uruguay), Michael Bowden, Kylee Bowden, Katie Bowden, Annalee Bowden and Matt Bowden.
