Davis Reads offers chances to win reader

FARMINGTON — Davis Reads is sponsoring a monthly contest to win either a Nook or Kindle as part of “Where I’m From.”

The community reading program, sponsored by the Davis School District, is asking civic leaders, teachers, principals, students and residents to use the format of the poem “Where I’m From,” by poet George Ella Lyon, to share their story.

For more information, visit www.davis.k12.ut.us/dsd/davisreads.

On the website are instructions for writing a “Where I’m From” poem and guidance for submitting the work. Throughout the year, submitted poems will be posted to the website. Each month, one poem will be selected from among the submissions, and its writer will be awarded a Nook or Kindle.

Other activities include online book discussions, a Family Literacy Night and school readathons, as well as an author visit from George Ella Lyon.
