GARLAND -- Bear River jumped on Grantsville early and played strong defense as the Bears shut out the Cowboys 21-0 on Friday night.
Kyle Zundel passed for one score and ran for another as Bear River jumped out to a 14-point first quarter lead, which was also the margin at halftime. After a scoreless third quarter, the Bears added another touchdown in the fourth on a 40-yard run by Jeramie Selman.
Bear River improved to 3-2 in league play, while Tooele fell to 2-2.
* STANSBURY 35, OGDEN 0: At Stansbury Park, the home team's defense pitched a shutout and its offense exploded in the second quarter as Stansbury buried Ogden 35-0 on Friday night.
Leading 7-0 after the first quarter, the Stallions put 28 points on the board in the second, which turned out to be the final margin after a scoreless second half for both teams.
The loss puts the Tigers at 2-2 in league play and 3-5 overall on the season. Stansbury remained undefeated and atop the region standings at 3-0 in league play and 7-0 overall.
* MORGAN 49, TOOELE 10: At Tooele, Morgan built a big first-half lead and cruised to victory 49-10 over Tooele Friday night.
The Trojans got long first-half touchdown runs from Christian Ecker, Parker Lewis and Lantzen Toomer and led 35-3 at halftime.
Morgan improved to 4-1 in league play and remains in second place in the region. Tooele fell to 0-4 in the region, tied with Ben Lomond for last place.
* DAVIS 43, WEBER 24: At Pleasant View, Davis built an early lead that proved to be more than enough as the Darts defeated the Warriors.
Davis led 22-7 after the first quarter and 29-7 at the half. They were outscored 17-14 in the second half, but scored enough that they were never really in danger.
Gage Cook tossed a pair of field goals and opened the scoring with a 3-yard TD run. Parker Rose, Ashton Reinhold and Jonah White also had rushing TDs.
Weber got a TD via the pass from Jason Mann to Bowe Sewell and 46-yard fumble return by Garrett Beckey.
Mitch Mourdant added a field goal for Weber.
* ALTAMONT 33, LAYTON CHRISTIAN 20: At Layton, Altamont jumped out to an early lead with two first-quarter rushing touchdowns and never trailed, capturing an important region win over LCA on Friday afternoon.
LCA quarterback Kyle Yockey threw for 133 yards on six of 13 pass attempts, with score and one interception. Joe Reddish had three catches for 62 yards. On defense, Colin Greenhill, Jack Chandler and Jake Warden all reached double digits in tackles.
With the loss, the Eagles dropped to 0-2 in league play and 3-5 overall.
