Anime Banzai coming to Davis

LAYTON — The annual Utah Anime Banzai convention is returning to Davis County and bringing with it thousands of anime enthusiasts.

Anime Banzai 2012 will be Oct. 19-21 at the Davis Conference Center, 1651 N. 700 West, Layton.

This is the third consecutive year the event has been held at the convention center, center officials said.

This year’s convention theme is Japanese myths.

Between 3,200 and 3,500 people attended the 2011 convention, which brought to the area a positive economic impact between $350,000 and $375,000, according to officials.

This year the center is anticipating an even bigger crowd, as word of the convention spreads to neighboring states.

Anime Banzai is an educational convention focusing on Japanese anime (animation), manga (comics) and culture, according to its website.

For more information on the event or to register to attend the convention visit www.animebanzai.org.
