3 teens rescued from ledge in Provo Canyon

PROVO — Three teenage boys have been rescued from a narrow ledge about 300 or 400 feet above a highway in Provo Canyon.

Authorities tell The Salt Lake Tribune the 16-year-old and two 17-year-olds were cold but uninjured when members of the Utah County Search and Rescue team finally brought them down about 3 a.m. Tuesday.

Officials say the boys had been hiking the Bonneville Shoreline Trail west of Bridal Veil Falls when they got stranded on a 3-foot-wide ledge.

Officers say they got a call from the father of one of the boys about 9 p.m. Monday. Rescuers say they reached the boys about 1 a.m., and it took another two hours to bring them down.
