Kaysville woman dies motorcycle crash in Hawaii

KAYSVILLE — Jennie Wahlstrom, 32, of Kaysville, has died after she and her husband crashed on a motorcycle in Hawaii.

The crash happened Monday at Mile Marker 28 of Akoni Pule Highway in North Kohala, police said.

According to bigislandnow.com, Wahlstrom was riding on the back of a rented 2012 Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by her husband in the direction of Kapaau when the driver swerved to avoid a car that had crossed the center line.

The motorcycle went off the road and traveled about 150 feet down a steep embankment. Wahlstrom and her husband, whom authorities have not identified, were found at the bottom of the gulch about 80 feet below the road.

Wahlstrom was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her husband was taken to a hospital with back and leg injuries. Neither was wearing a helmet, police said.

Police are searching for the car.
