WEST JORDAN -- Prosecutors filed criminal charges against two 20-year-olds suspected of pepper-spraying dozens of people at a Riverton Walmart last month.
The pepper-spraying incident forced the evacuation of the store Sept. 15 and about 80 customers and employees had to be treated at the scene.
The Salt Lake Tribune reported Wednesday that prosecutors in West Jordan filed charges against Jordan Ryan Crane of causing a catastrophe, obstructing justice, and surreptitious administration of a substance. Madison Valorie Durrant faces charges of obstructing justice.
Prosecutors allege Crane used Durrant's pepper spray from her purse and walked around the store spraying behind him. Police say the pair drove away and Durrant told Crane to throw the pepper spray canister out the window.
