Deputies resolve situation in Roy

ROY — Weber County Sheriff’s deputies resolved a situation without incident Thursday evening after receiving information that a woman in a Roy home planned to harm herself.

Shortly before 7 p.m., deputies went to the door of the home near 5500 South and 4175 West, where the woman let them in and they determined she was unharmed, Roy Police Chief Greg Whinham said.

Law enforcement personnel and the woman’s family were on the scene to assess her mental state, Whinham said. They wanted to determine whether she had actually planned to harm herself or if there had been some miscommunication between the woman and the individual who contacted police.

Whinham didn’t know if the woman actually had been armed, but said she did not appear to be injured.

The sheriff’s office was handling the case because there is a close connection between the woman and someone who works for Roy Police Department.

Whinham said,”This is a call (possible suicide) we get too often.”
