Utah foreclosure rate holds steady at No. 16 in US

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah’s September foreclosure rate remains the 16th highest in the nation for a second month.

Data released Thursday by RealtyTrac Inc. shows that one in every 903 Utah housing units saw a foreclosure filing in September. That’s up almost 1 percent from August, but down 54 percent from last September.

The drop reflects the national foreclosure picture for the month of September. RealtyTrac reports the lowest total number of foreclosure filings nationally since July 2007.

Florida, California, Illinois, Arizona and Nevada had the highest foreclosure rates in the nation in August.
