Editor,

Looking at the Utah attorney general’s race this election worries me. I know that most people in this state blindly vote for the candidate with the "R" next to their name, but this election, I can only hope that we will see past parties and vote for the only qualified candidate.

While John Swallow has spent the past four years raising money, pandering to the far right, and dodging an FBI investigation, Dee Smith has been prosecuting drug dealers, gang members, and murderers. Do we really want an attorney general like Swallow who has never even prosecuted a case?

Having looked into both candidates I can confidently say that I will be voting for the candidate who has been keeping our communities safe and is committed to keeping politics out of the attorney general’s office. That candidate is Dee Smith.
