Economic council recognizes Ogden

OGDEN — Ogden’s Community and Economic Development department recently received an Excellence in Economic Development Award from the International Economic Development Council.

The award was presented earlier this month in Houston at the IEDC’s annual conference.

Ogden was recognized for its public-private partnership with the Boyer Company in the redevelopment of what was formerly known as Defense Depot Ogden.

After a 1995 round of Base Realignment and Closings shut down the depot, the city and Boyer turned the former military depot into Business Depot Ogden, which spurred economic growth, job creation and sales and property tax bases.
