Florida girl QB gets new title: homecoming queen

PLANTATION, Fla. — The first female quarterback in Florida high school history now has a new title: homecoming queen.

Erin DiMeglio was crowned South Plantation High’s homecoming queen at halftime of the Paladins’ 18-0 win over Hollywood Hills on Thursday night.

The 17-year-old senior is the third-string quarterback for the undefeated Paladins. She also plays on the girls basketball team.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported (http://sunsent.nl/OYnyDj ) that she wore her uniform during the ceremony, tucking a flower into her wristband to make an impromptu corsage.
