OGDEN — Police believe a Saturday afternoon shooting that injured one man was gang-related.
The incident occurred around 3:20 p.m. in the parking lot of the Maverik Convenience Store at 3186 Washington Blvd.
Ogden Duty Lt. Will Cragun said a 23-year-old Pueblo, Colo. man was shot by a man who is believed to have been from a rival gang.
Cragun said the man who was shot was with a group of musicians who were headed to Seattle for a concert. They were selling CDs of their music in the store’s parking lot.
On the side of the motor home they traveled in was a painting representing South Side gang affiliation.
Cragun said the members of the group believe a Hispanic man in his 20s who is balding and has face tattoos approached them in the parking lot and then left, only to return later and shoot at their RV.
Witnesses believe the suspect was driving a primer gray or black 1990 GMC Blazer.
Three shots struck the motor home and the fourth struck the member of the group in the abdomen.
The man was taken to McKay-Dee Hospital where he underwent surgery. He is expected to recover.
The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to call police dispatchers at 801-629-8221.
