SLC man stabbed grandmother 111 times

SALT LAKE CITY — Prosecutors say a man accused of killing his grandmother in her Salt Lake City home stabbed her 111 times.

Twenty-one-year-old Zachary Cole Weston has been charged with aggravated murder, a capital offense, in the death of 84-year-old Joyce Dexter.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance call at Dexter’s home on Oct. 3. According to court records released Friday, police found Weston standing over his grandmother while holding a bloody knife, and he had blood on his hands and clothing.

Weston also told investigators he had slit her in several places and removed several of her organs, according to court documents.

Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill declined to comment Friday to the Deseret News (http://bit.ly/Rnzr4F ) on a possible motive.
