Robert and Lucille Bodily

Robert and Lucille P. Bodily will celebrate their 72nd wedding anniversary at their home on Oct. 14. Friends, family and neighbors may attend the celebration.

Married on Oct. 15, 1940, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple, they met at the White City Ballroom. Soon after they were married, he was called to serve in World War II. He served for three years, mostly in the New Guinea and Philippine Islands.He celebrated his 94th birthday on Sept. 30 of this year, and she celebrated her 89th birthday on Sept. 10. He was born and raised in Syracuse. She was born in Uintah and raised in South Weber. Both attended Davis County schools. They have also lived in Ogden and Roy.

He was employed at Hill Air Force Base, retiring after 30 years. They enjoyed many years of camping, fishing and hunting. He has enjoyed singing and playing guitar and organized a band of musicians who performed at church, civic gatherings and nursing homes.

Active members of the LDS Church, they have served in many capacities. He served as a member of the Roy 5th Ward bishopric and held stake responsibilities. She served in Relief Society, Primary and as a Cub Scout leader. They served as directors of the London England Temple Visitors Center.

Their four children and spouses are Colleen and David Clay, Susan Taylor, Julianne and Paul Gibby, and Robert Paul and Leisa Bodily. They have 14 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
