The NFL has its short week.
Today, Top of Utah football teams get their first taste of a short preparation week.
Due to the annual Utah Education Association Convention & Education Exposition Thursday and Friday at Sandy's South Towne Exposition Center, games have been moved up two days.
Regions 1 and 5 have completed league play; Region 11 finales are today.
In Region 11, Stansbury (9-0 overall, 5-0 league) is the No. 1 seed with the outright league title barring a total collapse against winless Ben Lomond (0-8, 0-5), which has been eliminated from state 3-A playoff contention.
Morgan (6-3, 5-1) is the No. 2 seed -- the Trojans have a league bye -- and plays Roy (5-4) in a non-league game.
Bear River (5-4, 3-2) is the No. 3 seed and plays Tooele (1-8, 1-4).
Ogden (3-6, 2-3) at Grantsville (5-4, 2-3) is for fourth place and the league's final 3-A playoff berth.
Region 1 champion Syracuse and second-place Northridge have each secured a state 5-A playoff berth. The Titans (9-0) don't play this week; the Knights (8-1) host Region 5 champion Mountain Crest (7-2).
Two-time 5-A runner-up Fremont (2-7) won a coin toss Saturday for the No. 4 seed and has a bye today, along with Davis.
The Darts (5-4) and Layton (3-6) meet Tuesday at Lancer Stadium in a third-place playoff game. The Lancers, who tangle with Bountiful (6-3) at Weber State's Stewart Stadium, speared Davis 41-21 on Sept. 28 at Layton.
In Region 5, the Mustangs, defending 4-A champion Logan, Box Elder and Sky View are in the state 4-A playoffs.
Non-league games include Box Elder (6-3) at Highland (5-4), Bonneville (2-7) at Murray (1-8), Region 6 champion East (8-0) at Logan (7-2) and winless Weber (0-9) at Sky View (4-5).
Clearfield (2-7), which has been eliminated from 4-A playoff contention, hosts Region 7 tri-champion Herriman (7-2).
State 1-A runner-up Layton Christian (3-6, 0-3) is looking for its first league victory on the road against Rich (5-3, 2-1).
