Emery man takes plea deal in woman's death

CASTLE DALE  — A 33-year-old Emery County man has pleaded guilty to reduced charges in the shooting death of a 22-year-old woman.

The Deseret News reports Randy John Behling pleaded guilty Tuesday to two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment in the death of Alisa Weston.

He had previously faced charges of felony manslaughter, four counts of reckless endangerment and one count of carrying a dangerous weapon while under the influence.

Behling told detectives he was asleep when his acquaintance, Weston, showed up at his house in Ferron and told him she was breaking up with her boyfriend and wanted to kill herself.

Behling says he gave her a gun but then tried to convince her not to commit suicide. He later said she grabbed the gun and shot herself in the chest.
