Toys for Tots charity ride set for Saturday

Hundreds of motorcycles will take part in a massive “Toys for Tots” charity ride Saturday around Top of Utah.

The ride begins at 8 a.m. in the parking lot of Ultimate Electronics in Layton. Bikers will leave at 9:30 a.m., going up Hillfield Road and Interstate 84 to Mountain Green and over Trappers Loop, back down to North Ogden, Willard, Perry and Brigham City before turning back to Ogden. The ride ends at Business Depot Ogden for a barbecue and raffle.

To enter, each rider must bring a new toy, still in its original packaging. William Darnell, organizer of the event, said all toys have to be in original packaging, unwrapped.

Toys for Tots is an annual drive to provide Christmas for needy children in Top of Utah. The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve has run it since 1947. Last year it helped 4,000 children, and hopes to double that this year.

For more information call Darnell at 801-300-8607.
