OGDEN -- The Weber State soccer team wraps up the regular season this week at Wildcat Soccer Field, looking to earn its second consecutive postseason appearance.
The Wildcats will host Big Sky Conference newcomer North Dakota at 3 p.m. on Thursday, and then take on Northern Colorado at noon on Saturday.
Weber State is 4-3-0 in Big Sky play (6-10-0 overall), and is positioned fifth on the league table with 12 points. The top four teams at the conclusion of the regular season will advance to the Big Sky Conference postseason championship tournament, to be held at the site of the league's regular season winner.
The Wildcats will enter the weekend with an outside shot to host the conference tournament, but will more likely need two wins in order to qualify for the postseason.
Weber State is one of six teams still in the running to host the tournament and eight teams that still have a chance to advance to postseason play, and no team has yet clinched a postseason berth.
North Dakota comes into Thursday's match at 0-7-0 in Big Sky play (2-11-1 overall), and having lost nine straight matches matches dating back to a 3-1 win over South Dakota State on Sept. 7
Northern Colorado comes into the weekend sitting at second place in the league standings at 4-1-2 (14 points) and will take on Idaho State on Thursday in Pocatello, Idaho, before coming to Ogden on Saturday.
* WSU STARTS SECOND HALF OF LEAGUE PLAY ON THE ROAD: The Weber State volleyball team returns to the road to start the second half of Big Sky Conference action.
The Wildcats will travel to face Northern Arizona on Thursday night at 7 p.m. at the Rolle Activity Center. The match will be televised live on Fox Sports Arizona Plus and Fox College Sports.
On Saturday, Weber State will face in-state rival Southern Utah at 7 p.m. at Centrum Arena.
The Lumberjacks are 8-2 in Big Sky play (16-3 overall) and sit just one match behind league-leaders Idaho State and Portland State after the first go-round of conference play.
Southern Utah carries a 4-6 conference mark (8-13 overall) into the week and will face the league co-leading Bengals on Thursday night.
Weber State is 2-8 in Big Sky play (8-13 overall) and is coming off a split last week as the Wildcats defeated Eastern Washington in straight sets before falling 3-0 to Portland State on Saturday.
Weber State fell 3-1 to Southern Utah in its Big Sky opener on Sept. 14 and then dropped a 3-0 decision to Northern Arizona on Sept. 15.
Redshirt freshman outside hitter Rebecca Fuchs continues to lead Weber State in most offensive categories, leading the way with 225 kills (3.08/set), 18 service aces, and 260.5 total points.
In conference play, sophomore outside hitter Audrey Biggs is second on the team with 42 kills (1.73/set), while senior middle blocker Dama Cox has 51 kills (1.59/set) , 21 blocks and 14 service aces.
