SALT LAKE CITY -- The 2013 edition of the Utah Life Elevated Scenic Calendar is now on sale.

Now in its 41st year, the annual award-winning publication, produced by the Utah Office of Tourism, highlights many of Utah’s iconic destinations, outdoor activities, and events through its captivating photography and graphic design. The calendar also features a greeting by Governor Gary R. Herbert.

A colorful photo of Thor’s Hammer at Bryce Canyon National Park, taken by photographer Ed Riche, was selected as the cover image. Many other Utah destinations are featured in the nearly 80 images throughout the calendar, including all five national parks, national forests and recreation areas, many of Utah’s state parks, ski resorts, metropolitan attractions, annual events, and various outdoor activities.

"This publication does more than boost tourism," said Spencer Eccles, executive director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED). "We use this calendar as a business recruitment tool because the stunning images of Utah’s scenery and outdoor recreation capture the essence of why people like to live, work and play in Utah."

"Contributing to this quality product are hundreds of images submitted by professional and amateur photographers every year," said Leigh von der Esch, managing director of the Utah Office of Tourism, an agency of GOED. "The calendar has been a popular gift for clients, family, and friends for more than 40 years. New technology and efficiencies have allowed much of the work to be done in-house, letting us to brand this publication with our website and other collateral materials."

Utah graphic artist Scott Hardy, who has worked on the state’s scenic calendars for the past 27 years, once again designed this year’s calendar. Twenty-five thousand copies were printed by Rastar in West Valley City.
