Woman steps in front of SUV in Taylorsville, dies

TAYLORSVILLE— Police have identified a 39-year-old woman who died after police say she stepped off the curb and into the path of an oncoming SUV in Taylorsville.

Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal says Robin A. Cruz was struck by a Chevy Blazer about 10 p.m. Thursday. Authorities say she was taken to the hospital and died shortly after.

Hoyal tells the Deseret News Cruz was not in a crosswalk, and was in a dark area at the time of the crash.

Police say the 21-year-old male driver and the passenger in the Blazer were not injured. Hoyal says it doesn’t appear the driver was speeding or under the influence.
