Emily Sipprell of Ogden will celebrate her 96th birthday. A birthday dinner will be held in her honor with family and close friends.
The third of four daughters, she was born on Oct. 24, 1916, in Hopkins, Minn., to Charles and Emma Empanger.
After graduating from Hopkins High School and the Minneapolis Business College, she was employed by the Soo Line Railroad.
She married Herman Happe in 1945, and they had four children. He died in 1959. Four years later, she married Merle Sipprell, who had five children.
They raised nine children in Hopkins. When the children were grown, the couple enjoyed golfing. As snowbirds, they traveled from Minnesota to Arizona every winter.
When Merle died in 2003, she moved to Ogden to be close to family. A homemaker, she enjoys gardening, cooking, entertaining her family in her home every week and going to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Sundays.STORY:201210220084Emily Sipprell/Announcements/2012/10/22/Emily-Sipprell.html-1
