Wanda and Boyd Christensen

Boyd M. and Wanda H. Christensen celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Oct. 19. He also celebrated his 93rd birthday on Oct. 20.

They were married Oct. 19, 1942, in Montesano, Wash. Their vows were solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple on Dec. 3, 1953.

Born Oct. 20, 1919, to Nels Ephraim and Ida Braegger Christensen, he was raised in Bear River City.

Born May 14, 1921, to Benjamin Trotter and Ida LaVon Johnson Helm, she was raised in Murray.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II as a petty officer first class motor machinist mate. After 32 years of service, he retired from Hill Air Force Base as an aircraft and systems overhaul general foreman in 1975.

She worked for Remington Arms, the Naval Supply Depot, HAFB and the Internal Revenue Service.

They have lived in Bear River City, Sunset, Roy, and for the past 33 years in Layton. They have spent many years gardening and making their home and yard a place they continue to enjoy with family and friends.

As active members of the LDS Church, their callings have included the church extraction program for 21 years, family history and temple work.

Their children and spouses are Barry Christensen (deceased); Robert and Jill Storey, Washington Terrace; Pam and (Lennis deceased) Glismann, Atlanta; Gary and Laurie Miller, Layton; and a daughter-in-law Elaine Christensen, North Ogden.

They have 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
