FARMINGTON -- A 44-year-old Clinton man is spending time in jail after spending almost two years secretly recording a woman in her bedroom.

Judge Michael G. Allphin sentenced Robert Stewart Jones on Monday in 2nd District Court to serve 60 days in Davis County Jail, with work release, and ordered him to serve two years of court probation.

Jones had pleaded guilty to four counts of attempted voyeurism by electronic equipment concealed or disguised, class B misdemeanors, on Sept. 11.

He was arrested July 30 and originally was charged with four counts of voyeurism, class A misdemeanors.

Clinton police were called to a home after one woman found a pen camera and then found DVDs that contained audio and video recordings of another woman who lived there. That woman was unaware she was being watched, according to the probable cause affidavit. The videos were taken from secret locations in a bedroom.

Jones admitted to police he had taken the videos, according to the documents.
