FARMINGTON -- Davis School District is seeking comments on three proposed calendar options for the 2012-13 school year.
Each option includes a two-day fall recess, three-day Thanksgiving recess, and winter recess beginning Dec. 21.
The major differences are as follows:
* Option A -- School begins Aug. 26, the week before Labor Day, and ends June 6. Students return from winter recess Jan. 6. Spring break is a full week, beginning March 31.
* Option B -- School begins Wednesday, Aug. 28, and ends June 6. This option includes a full week off for spring break, March 31-April 4. Winter recess ends Jan. 2.
* Option C -- School begins Aug. 26, and ends May 30. Students return from winter recess Jan. 2. Spring break is three days, plus the weekend, March 28-April 1.
Last year, the first day of school was moved to after Labor Day as a result of the state allowing districts to cut two instructional days for professional development. This one-time exception is not expected this year.
The options are now posted online for public viewing at www.davis.k12.ut.us.
Comments are welcome, and residents are encouraged to take a survey and indicate which option they prefer.
However, this is not a vote. Comments will be considered by the school board before it gives final approval to the calendar.
