FARMINGTON — A judge ordered a 37-year-old man to get a job, vocational training or go back to school after he finishes his jail sentence for downloading child pornography to his computer.
Brandon Lee, of North Salt Lake, appeared before Judge Thomas L. Kay in 2nd District Court for a sentencing hearing Thursday.
He was arrested in February by officers with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and charged with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, second-degree felonies.
On Sept. 20, he pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted sexual exploitation of a minor, third-degree felonies.
Assistant Utah Attorney General Ann Rozycki said in court that her office and investigators are concerned about Lee and his co-defendant, his uncle Roger Lee.
“This defendant needs to get some vocational training or a job,” Rozycki said about Brandon Lee.
The Lees stayed in the mobile home where they were living, “all day looking at pornography,” Rozycki said.
Rozycki said the majority of the child pornography images found on the computers owned by the Lees belonged to Roger Lee.
Kay sentenced Brandon Lee to serve 90 days in Davis County Jail and three years of probation with Adult Probation and Parole. Kay also ordered Brandon Lee to have no access to the Internet without prior approval from his AP&P officer.
Roger Lee, 57, of North Salt Lake, had also been charged with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. He had told investigators that his nephew, Brandon Lee, had set up a network for computers in their home, according to court documents. He also told investigators the child pornography on the computers was his own.
Roger Lee pleaded guilty on March 15 to two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, second-degree felonies.
He was sentenced May 3 to serve 270 days in Davis County Jail and received credit for the 103 days he had already served. He has since been released and is now serving three years of probation with AP&P.
