ANTELOPE ISLAND -- The crash of a special operations Pave Hawk helicopter at Antelope Island on Oct. 29, 1992, will be remembered today.

Army Ranger veteran Danny Cox is riding his bicycle more than 750 miles, from Luke Air Force Base in Arizona to the island, to commemorate the memory of the five Army Rangers and seven Air Force combat controllers who were killed in the accident.

On the night of the crash, Cox was at Hill Air Force Base, waiting to participate in the next phase of the training exercise, when the helicopter went down.

Cox's ride will conclude at the Antelope Island Memorial near the end of the causeway, where a rededication ceremony of the memorial will take place at 3 p.m.

Families of the fallen and those involved in the rescue operation, along with Utah Gov. Gary Herbert, will speak at the event. For more information, call Heidi Benson at 801-664-7434.
