SALT LAKE CITY -- Salt Lake International Airport is the 27th busiest in the United States, according to a recent study by the Brookings Institution.
The institution recently released a report on international air travel which charts the flow of passengers between U.S. metro areas and points abroad during the past eight years.
According to the report, Salt Lake International had a total of 709,007 passengers in 2011.
The 2011 numbers mark a 32 percent increase from 2003, when total passengers at the airport reached 536,860.
The most common transfer points from Salt Lake City were Atlanta, Los Angeles and Chicago.
