Don Wolsey of Roy celebrated his 80th birthday with family and friends at an open house on Oct. 27.
He was born on Oct. 21, 1932, in Mount Pleasant to Cora and Thomas Woolsey. He graduated from San Pete High School. He married Janis Phipps on June 3, 1972. Their vows were later solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ogden Temple, where he is an active member.
He retired from Deffense Depot Ogden in 1993. A year after he retired, he became a crossing guard at Midland Elementary School in Roy. He has been at the school for 18 years, waving to all who pass by. He enjoys watching sports, gardening and his grandchildren.
His children are Tim Woolsey, Debra Levitti, Bobby Mills, Marsha Leota, Sheila Yocum, Troy Wolsey and Chris Wolsey. He has 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
