George Hyrum and Joyce Johns Elmer of North Ogden celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a small family gathering.
They were married Oct. 18, 1962, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple.
He worked at Hill Air Force Base and retired from Defense Depot Ogden and the LDS Church.
She worked for Corky Accounting and California Pac, and retired from Weber State University Bookstore.
They served in the England Leeds LDS Mission.
They are parents of six children, but raised only five, having a stillborn daughter Susan Elmer. Their children and spouses are Lisa Elmer, North Ogden; Thomas and Lona Elmer, Riverton; Alan and Liesl Elmer, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Ryan and Kellie Elmer, North Ogden; and Kevin and Janet Elmer, Ogden. They have eight grandchildren: Joshua Elmer, Zackery Elmer, Braden Elmer, Kiera Elmer, J.T. Elmer, Arianna Elmer, Ashton Elmer and Gavin Elmer.
